The Secret Hotel, Bansko
February 25

Tucked away in the forest a few kilometres out of Bankso enroute to Chalog Velin, The Secret Hotel opened its first season under new management this winter. Food, rooms, parties and, the even more recently launched, Secret Park – incorporating a range of jumps, some of which involves landing onto a giant airbag – are all on offer at very reasonable rates.
An open plan restaurant and gallery space downstairs welcomes you to hearty dinners for both meat eaters and vegetarians, the latter of which is surprisingly full of choice from locally sourced producers and the veggie burgers are a particular favourite! Meat lovers don’t escape the high quality service from the menu and some nights offer an outside BBQ alongside its Secret Bar.
Despite the rooms being quite basic – think 1970’s Communism – they’re clean, cheap and, after a day on the nearby slopes you’ll not have far to crash in a comfortable bed after first sampling the food and booze. It also offers an ideal location for large groups and runs transfers into town for those without a car.
The Secret Hotel will be taking part in March’s Horizon Festival but they also have their own parties on most Wednesday and Saturday nights with guest and resident DJs.

Two English guys managers, drunk and on weed. 2 dogs running free. nothing to eat. Old hut far from civilization. Only weekends alcohol parties. Not good place for family.
Sounds like it’s gone downhill badly since we were there earlier in the year which is a great shame as it wasn’t like that before. Will make some inquiries…but thanks for the head’s up Vasil.
